A land not to be excelled by any other what-so-ever

-Sir Ralph Lane, Spring 1586

On the morning of September 11, 2001, the United States of America was hijacked- our American built planes were used as weapons of mass-destruction, flown by pilots we taught in the United States. For the first time in our history, American airspace was a no flyzone. Three of our country's greatest landmarks were either damaged or destroyed. More Americans lost their life that one day than any other single day in the history of our country, peace times and times of war included. Bloodier than Pearl Harbor. Worse than D-day. More horrific than any Civil War battle, and those who lost their lives were civilians and military people alike.

Matt waits as the air-wing VF-14 "Tophatters" from the Enterprise battle group returns to Virginia Beach after defending us in Afghanistan

In Memory of:

Boeing 757 United Airlines Flight 93 Newark to San Francisco, crashed 80 miles outside Pittsburgh

Boeing 757 American Airlines Flight 77 Washington/Dulles to LA, crashed into the Pentagon

Boeing 767 United Airlines Flight 175 Boston to LA, crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center

Boeing 767 American Airlines Flight 11 Boston to LA, crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center

NYFD, NYPD, DCFD, DCPD, America's Military

The citizens of New York and Arlington

Hampton Roads, the MSA of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News, Hampton, York County, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Portsmouth, and Williamsburg responded by scrambling Navy jets to the Pentagon based at Oceana, Virginia Beach. Norfolk sent aircraft carriers built in Newport News and their battle groups to Afghanistan. Virginia Beach firefighters trained their New York counterparts on how to access a destroyed building. Americans from all over the country reported to bases around the Hampton Roads area to respond to our threat of inland terrorism.

This page is for all people who view it, for all religions, for all beliefs, this page is a memorial for all Americans who have served in the largest military installation in the world, the Hampton Roads military community of the NAVY, ARMY, MARINES, COAST GUARD, and the AIR FORCE.

>Watch a tribute made by the local paper, the Virginian-Pilot

God Bless America.

"The same things that made Hampton Roads such an important site historically also make it ideal for business today. Its location - at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, on the world's largest natural harbor, at the center of the Eastern Seaboard - simply couldn't be more ideal" - economic web site
